Photo by Lia Gallegos Dave Eichenberger has been exploring the sounds of the guitar for over 27 years. One of the things that makes Dave unique as a live performer is that he augments his sound with real-time looping. Looping is digitally recording sound as it is played, and either playing on top of, or adding to the loop. This is done all in real-time, and all live. Currently he performs solo, in the the original rock band Hazard Factor, and in the improvisational fusion band, Fools Folly.

"While I love writing and recording, the real fun begins when I perform with no idea of what I am about to play," says Dave, "This way neither the audience nor I have any expectations. It is always new for both parties."

Dave performs live on either electric guitar and guitar synthesizer or acoustic steel string guitar, creating completely unique styles with each. Guitar synthesizer uses a special guitar to trigger a synthesizer, making sounds come out of the guitar that were previously available only to keyboardists. His advancement and control of these sounds make it hard to believe they all come from one person.

Combining looping with acoustic guitar makes a sound Dave calls contemporary chamber music. Sounding like a cross between a harpsichord and a harp, it lies outside the traditional definitions of classical music and jazz.
His music, along with its connection to visual art, was profiled in the book Music Inspired by Art by Gary Evans.
Currently, Dave is endorsee with Brian Moore Custom Guitars and Sabine tuners. He has appeared on several compilation recordings for various musical gear manufacturers, including Gibson, Seymour Duncan, and Ernie Ball.

Besides performing and recording, Dave maintains a roster of guitar students. He chaired the Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee in New Port Richey in 2005-2006. and still has time to plan and promote art events in the city of New Port Richey.

"Those of us who attend Eichenberger's performances have grown to love his smooth, free-form layers of looping sound and appreciate his jazz improvisations and baroque and modern classical compositions. There's nothing to compare. Really."
